Environmental Notice

In accordance with Article 33 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), KONE Corporation and its subsidiaries (together “KONE”) hereby wish to inform their customers about the presence of substances on the current Candidate List of substances of very high concern for Authorization in certain KONE articles.

KONE is constantly striving to remove substances of very high concern (SVHC) from its articles. However, please note that to the best of our knowledge and based on information provided by our suppliers, the following KONE articles delivered to the EU contain SVHCs in a concentration above 0.1% weight by weight:

Lead (CAS No. 7439-92-1):

  • Lead filler bits used in the counterweights of KONE MonoSpace 700™ and KONE TranSys™ elevators with low head room or with very little space for the counterweight
  • Lead-acid batteries in all elevators
  • Certain electrical and electronic articles within printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA), drives and power supplies in KONE’s electrification solutions
  • Certain elevator car fans
  • Certain safety gear seals in elevators
  • Certain bushings and washers in overspeed governors and safety gears in elevators
  • NTC thermistors in hoisting machine stators
  • Certain circuit breakers in elevators
  • Contact pins in certain limit switches in elevators
  • Certain sill profiles and strips in elevators
  • Earth bars in elevators
  • Spacer studs in Rescue Brake Opening devices in elevators
  • Threaded inserts in certain card guides and standoffs in elevators
  • Contacts of certain socket outlets in elevators
  • Counterweight rope clamps, bolts and bushings in certain elevator pit escape devices
  • Cylinders and microkeys in certain Car Operating Panel key switches
  • Lead inlays in KONE Hermetic doors 30R and 30I_R

  • Lithium coin cell batteries in certain PCBAs

Alkanes, C14-17, chloro (CAS No. 85535-85-9):

  • Certain wires and cables in KONE’s electrification solutions

Lead monoxide (lead oxide) (CAS No. 1317-36-8):

  • Certain articles in PCBAs (e.g. Zener diodes, resistors, resonators, crystals)

1,6,7,8,9,14,15,16,17,17,18,18-Dodecachloropentacyclo[12.2.1.16,9.02,13.05,10]octadeca-7,15-diene (CAS No. 13560-89-9):

  • Certain inductors in PCBAs

4,4'-isopropylidenediphenol (CAS No. 80-05-7):

  • Certain memory chips in PCBAs

Cadmium oxide (CAS No. 1306-19-0):

  • Certain relays in PCBAs

Diboron trioxide (CAS No. 1303-86-2):

  • Certain crystals in PCBAs

Hexahydromethylphthalic anhydride (CAS No. 25550-51-0):

  • Certain LEDs in PCBAs

Lead dinitrate (CAS No. 10099-74-8):

  • Certain connectors in PCBAs

Lead titanium zirconium oxide (CAS No. 12626-81-2):

  • Certain resonators in PCBAs

Potassium 1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4,4-nonafluorobutane-1-sulphonate (CAS No. 29420-49-3):

  • Certain chokes in PCBAs

Orange lead (lead tetroxide) (CAS No. 1314-41-6):

  • Certain resonators in PCBAs

Boric acid (CAS No. 10043-35-3):

  • Certain resonators in PCBAs

2-methylimidazole (CAS No. 693-98-1):

  • Certain relays in PCBAs

The aforementioned articles do not pose a safety risk to customers and end-users under normal conditions of use provided the equipment is operated according to KONE’s instructions and the articles are disposed of in accordance with all applicable regulations.
